What's New?

Leadwire and Cable Seal with Split Grommet

Improved oil seal prevents leaks and simplifies installation

Minco's new FG3015 oil seal offers a convenient way to keep oil from wicking along wires where they exit machine housings. The compression seal conforms tightly to the cable jacket and keeps oil inside the machine to 50 psi. Unlike feedthroughs or glass to metal seals you can remove or adjust the seal position in seconds. The new split grommet feature lets you install the seal without threading the cable or wires through the grommet.

The heavy-duty body is all stainless steel for reliability and long life. Models are available for single cables or up to six individual wires, with diameters of 0.05 to 0.23 inch (1.3 to 5.6 mm). The FG3015 is rated to 150°C and is ideal for sealing wires on temperature and vibration sensors, control system wiring, and small diameter probes on motors, generators, turbines and compressors.

Chill-Out™ - Solid State Low Temperature Cut-Out

The new Chill-Out™ senses freezing temperatures within any 6 inch section along its length. It replaces fragile and difficult to install gas capillary tubes and their mechanical switches ("Freezestats"). Unlike the capillary tubes, this sensor can be installed horizontally or vertically or easily formed to fit any shaped system.

The sensor elements are available in a variety of styles including bendable aluminum tubing, ultra-flexible brass armor and hinged epoxy glass strips. The electronic shut off control can be mounted at the measuring point or within a central control box for convenient monitoring. An LED on the control box indicates a tripped condition, and a manual reset button allows the operator to quickly reinstate the system.

Standard models have a 41°F set point with a DPDT relay; custom models can be ordered with any required trip point.

New waterproof surface mount sensor

Waterproof Thermal Tab™ sensor gives fast, accurate temperature measurements in a low cost package

The S667 is rated to 155°C (311°F) and has silicone rubber insulated body and AWG 26 leadwires for ease of installation. Dimensions are 5 x 16 x 3 mm (0.2 x 0.6 x 0.12"). It can be mounted to flat or curved surfaces with peel-and-stick ease or with epoxy or RTV cement. Standard elements include 100 ohm and 1000 ohm Platinum and 100 ohm Nickel. NTC thermistor and other special elements are available on request

Thermal Vial™: New temperature sensing system for laboratory refrigerators and freezers

New Temperature Sensing System for Laboratory Refrigerators and Freezers

The Thermal Vial™ (patent pending) is a new temperature sensing system for ultralow freezer, cryogenic storage, blood bank, and other medical and scientific storage applications to -269°C (4K).

The system includes a precision RTD probe, match calibrated 4-20 mA transmitter in a moisture proof enclosure, ruggedized flexible cable, and a fluid-filled container that lets the sensor mimic the thermal response of other freezer contents.

Freezer sensors are subject to false alarms when doors are opened and temperature momentarily rises. The Thermal Vial™ container acts as a thermal ballast to delay reaction and provides a repeatable time response. It can be filled with cryopreservatives, alcohol, water, ethylene glycol solutions, or any other solution to accurately emulate the material being processed or stored.

The sealed Thermal Vial™ eliminates the problems of spillage and contamination of contents. The large (50 mm x 50 mm) footprint provides extra stability on a shelf or rack, while allowing easy repositioning.

NIST traceable certification of compliance and calibration data are provided at no additional charge.

Commercial Grade Kapton™ Heaters

A new line of commercial-grade Kapton insulated heaters from Minco provides the benefits of a thin, etched foil element at a lower cost. These new heaters are less than 0.010" thick and can be formed to a 0.030 inch (0.75 mm) radius. The low thermal mass, fast warm up, and uniform heating provide exceptional control and simplify your design process.

Standard size options from 0.5 x 2.0 inch to 5.0 x 5.0 inch are designed for uniform power output at 12 or 24 volts DC. Solder pad terminals are standard, with factory installed PTFE insulated leadwires optional. All models include PSA film mounting adhesive for operation to 100°C.

These heaters are ideal for providing tight thermal control on devices with strict budget limits. Applications include commercial food preparation equipment, disposable medical devices and warming electronic systems in cold environments.

Rubber Heater Assemblies

Expanded element heater assemblies lower costs and simplify installation

Minco's expanded heater assemblies (patent pending) provide moderate, controllable heat in economical and low profile designs. Overall plate dimensions up to 22" x 72" are possible with aluminum, copper or stainless steel plates. Applications for these heater assemblies include warming electrical enclosures in harsh environments, warming vehicle batteries in cold weather, and warming trays for the food service industry.

The low profile design fits in tight locations and can include accessories such as thermal cutouts, fuses and controller electronics. UL component recognition is available for all designs. Electrical connection options include leadwires, terminals and connectors. Integrated temperature sensors and controllers provide a complete thermal system in a single package.

Thermofoil™ Combination Heater / Sensor

Thermofoil™ heater / sensors combine the fast warm up and low mass of an etched foil heater with an RTD or thermistor temperature sensor. Kapton heater insulation allows operation to 150 deg. C and the small sensor size provides exceptionally fast response.

Standard models are available in sizes to 5 x 5 inch with resistance options to match most applications. Sensor element choices include 100 and 1000 ohm platinum RTD's and 50,000 ohm NTC thermistors. These solutions are ideal for designers who are creating thermal models or prototyping new products.

Custom design options for OEM volumes include element profiling to maintain optimum heat gradient, special sensors for unique requirements and flex-circuit connections instead of individual wires. Custom designs allow a precise fit, faster installation and reduced parts count in production quantities.
